Cortland Amenities

Cortland Acres offers its residents and their families services and amenities that create a living environment that best replicates the comforts of home while offering the necessary assistance with daily activities. We offer the specialized staff, programming and secured facility to meet the unique needs of individuals living with Alzheimer's and Dementia.

We are very proud of the "family-like" environment that we have created where residents find friendship with one another as well as with our staff.

Activities

A daily agenda of leisure and recreation is designed and coordinated by a full-time director and staff to promote a sense of well-being and self-worth among the residents.

Planned activities can include monthly parties, holiday celebrations, themed dinners, Bingo, musical events, Bible Study, games, gardening, reading, exercise, arts and crafts, trips and tours, and religious services. Check out our monthly events calendar.

Beauty & Barber Shop

Cortland Acres’ in-house beauty shop is open to residents weekly and is operated by a licensed beautician. Barber services are available regularly. It offers a full range of beauty services including permanents, shampoo and sets, tints and cuts.

Handicapped accessible amenities maximize the ease and convenience for resident use.  Residents also enjoy the social nature of beauty shop visits as this time allows them an additional opportunity to spend time with friends. Expenses incurred at the beauty shop are covered by the resident’s funds.

Dining at The Cortland Cafe

We recognize that nutrition is important to our residents' quality of life. Our dietary staff cares about the food preferences and the dietary and social needs of each resident. The staff knows that when food is appealing as well as nutritious and is served in a pleasant, social setting, residents have a better dining experience.

Currently the staff prepares menus to meet special dietary needs. Dietary staff and nursing assistants also chat with residents, providing friendly interaction as they open a milk carton or butter a fresh-baked roll for some, and feed others who need help.

Birthday parties and regular theme dinners enliven the daily gathering of residents in our attractive dining room. Picnics and special outings for ice cream and other treats are assisted by our active volunteer organization, The Friends of Cortland Acres.

We constantly seek input from residents and family members in order to discover preferences and problems related to nutrition.

Especially For You Gift Shop

Located just inside the front door, The Gift Shop at Cortland Acres is a nice perk for our residents or family members who want to find the perfect gift or card for an upcoming birthday or holiday or a special occasion.
